The victory was crucial for Valladolid in their struggle against relegation, although despite the loss, Barça performed well in attack and would have easily scored two or three goals had it not been for Masip’s outstanding performance in goal for the visitors.

Following Eric Garcia’s foul on Gonzalo Plata, Valladolid was given a penalty, which Cyle Larin converted before Plata made it 3-0 in the 73rd minute. The goal was given after a VAR check for an offside. Six minutes before the end, Robert Lewandowski restored Barcelona’s lead with a goal, bringing his season total to 23 goals.
Real Sociedad, now in fourth place, defeated Almeria 1-0 earlier on Tuesday. The Basque team can clinch a Champions League position for the upcoming season on Wednesday if Villarreal, currently in fifth, loses at home to Cadiz.
