Ranji Trophy Quarterfinals: India’s Test hopefuls looking to impress selectors
Mayank Agarwal is currently the leading run getter for Karnataka in the current edition of Ranji Trophy season with 603 runs. The opener is down in the pecking order for Team India when it comes to selection criteria. However in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season he has proved there is plenty in the tank and with his leadership skills he has managed to get the best out of young bowling attack which has consistently delivered.

Hanuma Vihari was once a regular in the Indian Test set up. However injuries has sidelined him from the Indian team. Vihari last played for India in the rescheduled fifth Test against England in July 2022 . Since then has been playing for Andhra in the domestic circuit since then.
During an interview with Cricketnext, Vihari had said that he is not used to staying away from Indian team and fight and get his place back is a different challenge.

He had said, “Once you play any sport, you face different challenges. As a sportsman, that is up to you if you want to face the challenge or run away for it. I like to face them head on and do my best in those situations. Every day in sports is a different learning”.
“Even grinding in the Ranji Trophy, not an experience I am not used to. Staying away from Indian team and coming to fight to get back is a different challenge. I am always looking forward to challenges,”.
Jaydev Unadkat made his comeback to Team India after 12 years in Bangladesh. The Saurashtra skipper played his only Test in 2010 and since then he went out of selectors’ radar. The 31-year-old, played for India in the second Test against Bangladesh, producing a fine performance in India’s three-wicket win in the Mirpur Test.
Even though he is the part of Team India for the opening two Test he might not get a chance in Playing XI. If he does perform well in quarterfinal then he might force the management to give a thought about his selection.
