PSL Season 7 LIVE: Fire breaks out in Karachi stadium – The PSL 2022 seems to be jinxed. After multiple players tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the start, fire broke out at the Karachi National Stadium a day before the opening ceremony. While there was no loss of life or injuries, the temporary commentary box was damaged in the fire. Follow PSL 2022 Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.

As per local media reports, the fire was a result of a short circuit that began during a welding operation on Wednesday. The Fire brigade was rushed in to control the fire but it could not save the commentary box. The fire also damaged the boundary SMD cable.

The PSL 2022 will begin on January 27 with the match between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans.

The PSL 2022 opening ceremony was scheduled to take place on January 27 ahead of the opening match. However, there has been no change in the schedule yet despite the fire. During the opening ceremony, prominent singers Atif Aslam and Aima Baig will sing the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 anthem, which has been produced and composed by Abdullah Siddiqui.  

“Getting to produce this anthem is a dream for any musician, and I’m very honoured and thankful to the PCB for the opportunity this year.”

“Both Atif Aslam and Aima Baig are undeniably the best and working with them has been a privilege. I’m very excited for fans to hear what we have come up with,” he added.

PSL 2022: Atif Aslam to sing PSL’s new anthem:  The producer further said: “We have tried to produce a song that captures the spirit of the game in a meaningful way, while still being very fun and catchy.”

Covid strikes PSL 2022 – Meanwhile, the start to PSL 2022 has been jonxed with multiple COvid-19 positive cases. Peshawar Zalmi’s Kamran Akmal and Arshad Iqbal tested positive for COVID-19 and were replaced by players from the reserves pool.

Both the players underwent PCR tests at the time of check-in at the team hotel for Pakistan Super League (PSL) on January 21 and 22, respectively.

According to a statement issued by Peshawar Zalmi, they are replaced by Imam-ul-Haq and Ammad Butt for the PSL matches.

The replacement, according to the PCB, will be temporary and the replaced players can re-integrate into the squad after completing isolation and receiving negative PCR results.
