PSL 2022 LIVE streaming: The much-awaited Pakistan Super League (PSL) new season is only a few hours away from the packed show. Babar Azam (Karachi Kings), Mohd Rizwan (Multan Sultans) & Shaheen Afridi (Lahore Qalandars) who headline ICC Awards will lead three teams in the tournament.
A total of six teams will lock horns at Karachi & Lahore in the T20 league with a number of overseas stars in action besides local talents. Pakistan Cricket (PCB) has ensured robust COVID health and safety protocols for the month-long tournament.

Islamabad United will be led by Shadab Khan and Quetta Gladiators — for which legendary Shahid Afridi will be playing — will be captained by former Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed.
“In the present-day environment, all international sport events are going ahead because there is more awareness and information about the pandemic,” PCB chairman Ramiz Raja told The Associated Press on the eve of the Pakistan Super League.
Karachi will host the opening leg of PSL 2022 from January 27. The second instalment will be hosted by Lahore from February 10. The playoff and final will take place on February 27.
COVID-19 had played a spoilsport during the last edition of PSL, matches were forced to be shifted to UAE’s Abu Dhabi after a brief delay.
The PCB has hired the same company to track the bio-bubble norms which took care of the tournament in Abu Dhabi last year.
“The PCB, despite delivering 267 matches in 10 domestic events in 2021, is not taking anything for granted,” PCB chief Raja said.
“We have designed and put in place robust health and safety protocols for the well-being of all (PSL) participants.”
The virus has already caused concerns before the first game between defending champion Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings kicks off at National Stadium on Thursday.

- The built-up has been dismal with three staff including Peshawar Zalmi wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal and 5 support staff testing positive for COVID last Saturday as teams began to assemble in Karachi.
- PSL’s technical committee has decided to use Imam-ul-Haq as a replacement for Akmal. Amid spurt in COVID cases, Karachi witnessed a lockdown in high-risk areas.
- A spike in positive Covid-19 cases in Karachi forced authorities to impose lockdowns in high-risk areas.
- The spectators are capped at 25 per cent amid a spike in cases with a maximum limit of 8000 allowed at the venue.
- All six teams have 20 players in their squad, matches will be allowed to go ahead if 13 players are available on each side if there is a spike in COVID cases during the tournament.
- Johnson Charles of West Indies, New Zealand’s Colin Munro, Rilee Rossouw of South Africa and Chris Jordan and Alex Hales of England are some of the foreign cricketers who will be playing in the PSL.
- The PSL has seen several Pakistan cricketers emerge internationally over the years with bowlers like Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali and Shahnawaz Dahani among them. And Raja sees the level of close competition among the six franchises to grow.
“The PSL has strengthened its reputation and profile as one of the most competitive and challenging leagues, which makes it exciting to follow locally and internationally,” he said.
