Islamabad United enter into this contest after losing their last game against Quetta Gladiators. They will look to get back to winning ways by facing a team that is low on confidence. For Islamabad, captain Shadab Khan is in a terrific form with both bat and ball. e is the leading wicket-taker in this tournament with 17 scalps in 6 matches with the best figures of 5 for 28. He has also registered a couple of fifties and has scored 198 runs at an average of 39.6.
Apart from Shadab, Alex Hales is the highest-run scorer for Islamabad United so far this season. The English batsman is in terrific form, scoring 230 runs in 6 matches at an average of 46. Colin Munro too has given good starts and Karachi Kings bowlers’ main focus would be to restrict Hales-Munro duo from scoring big.
For Karachi Kings, apart from Babar Azam, there has been no notable contributions with the bat and thats is one of the reasons for the team struggling to get going this year. The skipper has scored 253 runs at an average of 50.6 with the highest score of 90. The captain should once again look to score big and hope to get their first victory on the board.
In the bowling department, right-arm pacer Umaid Asif has been exceptional, having picked up seven wickets in five matches. The team however lacks a big name to hold the unit together and they have struggled to restrict the run-flow and provide crucial breakthroughs. Karachi Kings need to win all their remaining matches to stand any chance of coming close to the playoff spot.
