PSL 2021: Pakistan captain Babar Azam unveils cover of ‘Babar ki Kahani’, story of his journey, keeps fans guessing if it’s a book or film

PSL 2021: Pakistan’s 26-yeard-old captain Babar Azam is all set to launch the story of his journey from a ball boy to taking on the captaincy role. Titled, ‘Babar ki Kahani’, the mystery project will launch on Sunday ahead of PSL 2021 Phase 2 in UAE. On Saturday, Azam unveiled the cover with his tweet garnering a lot of attention due to his huge following.

The journey of Babar Azam is one that inspires all. From a ball boy at the Gaddafi stadium in 2007, he has taken charge of a struggling Pakistan side. But more than that, he has let his willow speak, scoring over 3,808 ODI runs at an average of 56.83, 2035 T20I runs at an average of 47.32 and 2169 Test runs at an average of 42.52. He has challenged the domination of the Big 4 — Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root.

PSL 2021: However, little is known about the project, keeping his fans guessing about it. Babar Azam hasn’t yet revealed if it’s a book or a movie. But it will narrate the journey of his humble beginning and take his fans through the tough times he has had in his life while also highlighting the high points.

PSL 2021: Babar Azam, challenging Virat Kohli’s domination

The way Babar Azam has performed in the last two years, he has constantly been compared to India captain Virat Kohli. Fans and commentators have analysed the two’s technique, batting stance and even captaincy in every match. But Babar Azam remained humble, saying any comparison with Kohli is a matter of pride for him.

“Virat Kohli is one of the best players in the world. He has performed everywhere and in big matches. When people compare us, I don’t feel pressure, I feel proud because they are comparing me with such a big player,” Babar Azam said.

“Personally, I don’t think there should be a comparison, but people do that and I feel happy. So, my aim is to perform the way he does and help my team win matches and make Pakistan proud. Look, we are different players. I have my style of playing and he has his style. So, I try to perform to the best of my ability,” he added.

Meanwhile, the PSL 2021 Phase 2 will resume in the UAE on June 9. Babar Azam will play for Karachi Kings who will take on Multan Sultans on June 10.
