PSL 2021: Foreign stars who are likely to miss the remainder of PSL- Pakistan Super League is set to resume from June 5 in the UAE after it was suspended after 15 matches due to bio-bubble breaches. With international commitments, the player draft had to be redone due to many overseas players’ unavailability. However, even then, many overseas players, including Shakib Al Hasan and Andre Russell are expected to miss the tournament.

The PSL 2021 remaining matches will feature 19 foreign players, mostly from New Zealand. However, New Zealand will play England in a 2-match Test series from June 2 followed by the ICC WTC Final against India on June 18. As for Sri Lankan players, while Thisara Perera will be available having retired from international cricket, Seekkuge Prasanna might miss out on few matches in the business end if he is picked for the limited-overs series against England that will begin on June 23.

Furthermore, West Indies and South African stars are also going to give it a pass as Andre Russell, Janneman Malan, Geroge Linde, Rovman Powell and Fidel Edwards amongst others will be involved in a bilateral series.

PSL 2021: Foreign stars who will miss the remainder of Pakistan Super League

Andre Russell (West Indies, Quetta Gladiators):

Andre Russell who represented Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL was a key member of the Quetta Gladiators squad. He will miss the PSL 2021 as West Indies will be hosting South Africa between June 10 to July 3. Even though he is not in the Test squad he will feature in the T20Is that will take place on 26th June. Considering the quartine period that he will have to go through it will be very difficult for Russell to feature in PSL.

Janneman Malan (South Africa, Islamabad United):

South African talisman Janneman Nieuwoudt Malan was part of Islamabad United but now as the second half of PSL is clashing with the West Indies vs South Africa series he will also miss the remainder of PSL 2021. Malan has played four ODIs and 9 T20Is for South Africa since making his international debut in 2019 against Pakistan.

Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh, Lahore Qalandars):

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan represented KKR in IPL and after the postponement, he was quarantined for 10 days in India. After that, he went through another hotel quarantine in Bangladesh before joining the bio bubble for series against Sri Lanka. The series against Sri Lanka ends on 28th May but still, it is most likely that Shakib will not play PSL which starts on June 5 as he will again have to quarantine himself in Pakistan.

George Linde (South Africa, Multan Sultans):

South Africa’s all-rounder George Linde, who represents Multan Sultans in PSL 2021, will also have to miss the league this year as he will be on national duty. George has been picked in both Test and T20I squad for the West Indies series.

Fabian Allen (West Indies, Peshwar Zalmi):

West Indies all-rounder Fabian Allen has been picked on the national side for the South Africa series. Fabian Allen was deemed to represent Peshwar Zalmi in PSL 2021.
