“Zazai has been exceptional so far. Especially, yesterday [against Islamabad United] he played in a very responsible manner and took his time out there in the middle. He took us close to finishing line, which was great to see. It is very important to win powerplays in T20 cricket and Zazai has done that very successfully for us, “Riaz told Cricket Pakistan.

Peshawar Zalmi finished third in the points table with five wins and five losses under their belt. Talking about the roller coaster ride in PSL 2021 Riaz said that we peaked at the right time.

“There were many ups and downs in our journey but we are happy to be in the final. The good thing was that we peaked at the right time. We have qualified for the playoffs in all six seasons while we have also played four finals. I think consistency is the key in a tournament and we have done really well in this regard,” he added.

Riaz was confident of getting Multan Sultans skipper Mohammad Rizwan out and he also revealed the plan.

“We will keep things simple and do nothing out of the box. We will get him [Rizwan] out caught behind,” he chuckled.

Riaz is also hopeful of making comeback to the Pakistan side as he is the 2nd highest wicket-taker in PSL 2021.

“I hope selectors are watching and even if they aren’t, I hope someone gives them this information. Whether the selectors play me or not, I will continue to perform and give my best on the field as this is my duty as a professional,” he said.
