PSL 2021-22: Pakistan Cricket Board in fix, who to host – Australia or Pakistan Super League? – Pakistan Cricket Board is facing a dilemma on whether to host Pakistan Super League (PSL 2021) or host Australia in the February – March window. Since the inaugural edition of PSL, it is conducted between February and March window but now as PCB is planning to host Australia in the same window. PCB can not push the PSL from April- May as it will clash with the IPL window.
PSL 2021-22: Pakistan Cricket Board can not let PSL’s scheduling impact its international season. As Australia is visiting Pakistan first time after 1998-99. PSL takes 47 days for a season thus there is another window between December 25 to February 15.
PSL 2021-22: However, most of the top players will have to miss the league as they will be on national duty. There is another problem with this window as there is extreme fog in Punjab, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi in these months. The only option left with the PCB will be to host the entire season in Karachi.
PSL 2021-22: Another issue that PCB need to sort is the clash between PSL franchise and the board. The Lahore High Court had made both parties sit together and directed PCB to “formally redress the grievances of all franchises” and “revise the model of PSL in accordance with its statutory mandate and make it financially viable”. At the moment, all six teams get an equal share of the revenue every season.
