Liverpool beat Arsenal 2-0: In the second half as Alisson produced a huge save for the visitors to deny Martin Odegaard, and three minutes later the Reds took the lead through a clinical finish from Diogo Jota. Substitute Roberto Firmino then doubled Liverpool’s advantage with a close-range effort, which secured the three points.
It was their ninth win on the spin in the top flight. Arsenal are next in action against Aston Villa in the Premier League on the road on Saturday. Liverpool return to FA Cup action on Sunday away to Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool scored two second-half goals to beat Arsenal at the Emirates and close the gap on league leaders Manchester City to just one point. Virgil van Dijk had almost given the visitors a dream start when Trent Alexander-Arnold found the defender inside the box from a corner but his header was well saved by Aaron Ramsdale.
The Gunners were then left rueing a golden opportunity to take the lead when Alexandre Lacazette latched on to Thiago’s wayward back-pass but Alisson recovered to tip over Martin Odegaard’s shot at goal. Within moments the visitors were ahead.
Thiago’s clever pass picked out Diogo Jota who broke into the penalty before driving a left-footed shot past Ramsdale at his near post. Roberto Firmino then came off the bench to double the advantage with a first-time poked finish after being found by Andrew Robertson inside the box.
It’s game on at the top of the Premier League while Mikel Arteta’s side remain in fourth, a point ahead of Manchester United with two games in hand.
