The result helped Burnley to move out of the bottom three up to 17th place, on five points from eight matches, while Palace drop to 10th on 13 after nine games.
Sean Dyche’s Burnley, who went into the match without a home goal in this campaign, ended their barren run when Palace defender Cheikhou Kouyate made a mess of a high cross from Johann Berg Gudmundsson, the ball falling to Jay Rodriguez who fed Wood to drive home.
Notably, Palace were without their influential winger Wilfried Zaha as he had been ruled out after testing positive for COVID-19.
Premier League: Wolves rescue a point against Southampton
Theo Walcott scored his first goal for Southampton in almost 15 years to help the team draw at Wolverhampton 1-1 in the English Premier League on Monday.
The on-loan Everton forward netted for the visitors for the first time since January 2006, early in his first spell for the south-coast club, to give them the lead in the 58th minute at Molineux.
However, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Pedro Neto came off the bench to cancel out Walcott’ strike in the 75th minute, turning in a rebound after Raul Jimenez’s shot came off the post.
