PAK-W beat WI-W Highlights: West Indies vs Pakistan – Pakistan women finally ended a record-equalling longest losing streak in Women’s World Cup. On Monday, Nida Dar and Muneeba Ali starred as Pakistan beat West Indies by 8 wickets in a rain-curtailed match in Hamilton. The win came after 13 years but Maroof & Co were not overjoyed. Captain Bismah Maroof’s decision to bowl first on a rain-curtailed day proved just right as West Indies could only manage 89/7 in 20 overs. Pakistan’s Nida Dar was the star performer with a four-wicket haul for just 10 runs as West Indies failed to get going against Pak spinners in Hamilton in the crucial Women’s World Cup match.

Opener Deandra Dottin tried her best on a slow pitch with 27 runs off 35 balls but the middle-order collapse didn’t help West Indies’ cause. Nida Dar kept chipping away wickets while Anam Amin, Sana Fatima and Nashra Sandhu bowled tight lengths and slower deliveries to keep West Indies at bay. In the end, West Indies Women only managed 89/7 in 20 overs.

In response, Pakistan were off to a steady start with Muneeba Ali and Sidra Amin. But Afy Fletcher got the better of the latter. However, West Indies were far from their best as Muneeba Ali partnered Bismah Maroof for a 35-run to take the match away from West Indies. In the end, Maroof and Omaina Sohail remained unbeaten on 20 and 22 respectively to guide Pakistan to an eight-wicket victory.

While the win will be a huge morale booster for Pakistan ahead of their remaining two league games, the defeat put West Indies’ semifinal hopes at a risk.

West Indies will face South Africa in their final league game on March 24, while Pakistan will play England (March 24) and New Zealand (March 26) in their final two matches.
