Babar Azam scored a scintillating century while Mohammed Rizwan managed an unbeaten 88 as Pakistan chased down 200 with all 10 wickets to spare. The 203 -run partnership is only the sixth instance of a 200-run partnership in T20Is and the first in a run-chase. Babar and Rizwan break their own record, having managed 197 in a run-chase against South Africa in 2019.

During their partnership, the duo also sealed their spot as the most prolific pair in T20I history. Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan have been the focal point of Pakistan’s T20I batting over the past few years, and the duo now have the most partnership runs in T20I history. The Pakistan openers went past Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, who had amassed 1743 runs together with 4-century partnerships and 7 fifty stands.
In comparison, Babar-Rizwan now have 1929 runs together in just 36 innings at a stunning average of 56.73. The duo have six fifty and seven-century stands in the format, the latter being the most by a pair.

This was the second time the duo clinched a 10-wicket win for Pakistan having earlier done so against India at the T20 World Cup last year. Babar and Rizwan had then chased down 152 in Dubai with utmost ease to break Pakistan’s jinx vs India.
Having now returned to form, Pakistan will hope that the duo can carry forward their form into the T20 World Cup next year. The Men in Green will once again open their campaign against India, this time at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
