Ousmane Dembele: Dembele has regained his form and stature at FC Barcelona ever since Xavi’s arrival to the club. He was in good form but has missed out on the last 7 games due to an injury that he sustained. He will also miss the upcoming El Clasico that will be played at the Spotify Camp Nou. On Wednesday night, fans were baffled to see where Dembele was. The French winger was pictured with Sunderland owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus at the Stadium of Light in England. Sadly for Sunderland though, they lost their game against Sheffield United in the Championship. However, just after half-time the French winger was shown in the crowd, sitting next to two people, during the broadcast. The former Borussia Dortmund winger, who got injured in late January, was pictured sitting in the Director’s Box.

Dembele was part of the game and was sitting in the Director’s Box because he is friends with the owner of the club. French businessman Louis-Dreyfus, 25, who also has a small stake in Marseille, became the controlling shareholder of Sunderland back in June. The pair have been friends for a while and Dembele also congratulated Sunderland on Instagram when they were promoted last year.

Several fans were left baffled on Social Media when they saw the French winger sitting in the stands. One fan said, ‘What’s Dembele doing at Sunderland?’. Another commented: ‘Ousmane Dembele to Sunderland confirmed.’ A third person added: ‘Imagine being Ousmane Dembele and just using your night off to come to Sunderland in the rain.’

In 28 appearances this season, Dembele has registered 8 goals and 7 assists for FC Barcelona. It hasn’t been his most productive season so far but he has definitely taken it up a notch ever since Xavi arrived at the club. Before Xavi’s arrival, he kept getting injured and failed to consistently deliver, be it on the RW or the LW.

Dembele’s contract at the club runs until the 2024 season. He was a free agent briefly and contemplated leaving the club too. PSG and Chelsea were interested in the winger but in the end, he decided to sign a 2-year extension with the Catalan Club. It will be quite interesting to see what he decides to do, now then there is just about a year left on his contract.
