Mauricio Pochettino was the frontrunner for the Chelsea owners in the pursuit of a manager job at Stamford Bridge. Since the departure of Graham Potter in April, Chelsea was busy in finalising the agreement with the Argentine.

Chelsea reportedly held talks with a number of candidates, including Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann. However, Pochettino became the main priority. The Argentine has earlier worked with Tottenham so he has an idea of the competition in the Premier League. We all know how he transformed the Spurs in his initial years.

Pochettino has signed a two-year contract with the West London club plus an option for an additional year. He worked with Tottenham for five years and took them to the Champions League final in 2019. Meanwhile, he was also linked with Spurs as a potential replacement for Conte. The Argentine had been out of work since being sacked by Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

Pochettino will work with his usual backroom teams that include assistant manager and head of conditioning Jesus Perez, first-team coach Miguel D’Agostino and goalkeeping coach Toni Jimenez. It will be the biggest task for the former PSG head to rebuild Chelsea for next season. The upcoming transfer window will also be a turning point.
