Odisha Open Badminton LIVE: Ace shuttlers gear up for a fresh tournament – A wide number of top ace shuttlers like Saina Nehwal, Malvika Bansod, Chirag Sen, and others will be taking part in Odisha Open 2022 which is scheduled to commence on January 25. Top-seeded players like Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap are eye a return to the tournament after undergoing a series of injuries and fitness issues that kept the power-duo out of the previous competitions.

A total of 9 matches will be played on Day 1 of Odisha’s first hosting of the BWF. Parupalli Kashyap is one of the top sed players while Saina would be featured in the quarter-finals on 26th January against Smit Toshniwal. Kashyap would be eager to put this title under his belt after he missed the Syed Modi International and the Indian Open. Chirag Sen will begin the competition against Varun Kapur on the opening day.  

As for Saina Nehwal, she too would be desperate to win the title after she missed the Syed Modi International owing to fitness issues and suffered an early loss in the Indian Open at the hands of upcoming badminton talent Malvika Bansod.

Malvika Bansod is currently unseeded in the tournament and will play her match against Srivedya Gurazada. Bansod lost the finals of the Syed Modi International at the hands of star ace shuttler PV Sindhu. 

PV Sindhu has decided to take a break and thus will not feature in this tournament, but she will be back on the court to take part in the BWF Super 100 tournament, which will be missed by Malvika Bansod. 

The tournament will take commence in matches of 5 different categories. Men’s, Women’s Men’s doubles, Women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. There are also a few noticeable absentees of this tournament apart from PV Sindhu. Both Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth will not be featured in this competition along with the likes of N Sikki Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa.
