New Balance is ready to #PitchUpInPink! - InsideSport

The 7th Momentum ODI PinkDay gets underway on the 10th of February at one of South Africa’s most historic grounds, the Bidvest Wanderers. The Standard Bank Proteas, who are yet to lose in pink, will be up against India to retain their title in the 4th Momentum ODI.

New Balance will be encouraging cricket fans to #PitchUpInPink on game day to assist in raising awareness and funding for the fight against breast cancer. Every rand raised on the day will go to the Breast Care Clinic at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, which sees up to 350 women with newly diagnosed breast cancer every year while treating more than 200, 000 patients on an annual basis, the official apparel brand of the South African cricket team stated in a Press release.

“PinkDay is an occasion in which we can celebrate the human spirit and showcase to the world how sport can change people’s lives. Uniting the people of South Africa against a common cause, we highlight the need to support those affected whilst contributing to better facilities and accessibility for woman to win the battle against breast cancer. We are delighted to announce that New Balance will be donating R50 for every shirt sold at the ground during the Momentum ODI PinkDay. We hope that fans and supporters dress up in pink and get behind this worthy cause,” announced Katharine Tromp, Marketing Manager of New Balance South Africa.

The fans can also get the philanthropic shirts and caps online. The shirt is available online at while the cap is available online at

David Miller, New Balance ambassador and Protea batsman, said “PinkDay is an initiative that is very close to my heart. It is a chance for me and the team to express ourselves and show our support towards breast cancer awareness. We hope that everyone ‘pitches up in pink’ and that we can make this event a one to remember for years to come.”

The PinkDay match is sold out but fans can still support the cause and #PitchUpInPink wherever they are on PinkFriday, on 09 February the day before the match or anywhere on match day.
