England went to play a stellar game against the Netherlands where they managed to break their own record and score the highest ever runs scored in the history of ODI cricket. Sent to bat first by the Netherlands, England lost the opener, Jason Roy, early. But Philip Salt and Dawid Malan joined hands to form a steady partnership.

Both Salt and Malan registered their individual tons and paved the way for skipper Jos Buttler to carry on the charge. Buttler smashed the second-fastest century by an English batter and then went on to score 162* off just 70 deliveries. Liam Livingstone came to crease after Eoin Morgan was dismissed for a duck.
Livingstone joined the party and scored the second-fastest fifty in ODI history. He reached his fifty in just 17 deliveries. England surpassed their own highest score of 481/6 against Australia as the final scoreboard read 498/4.

Netherlands wanted to start their batting on a positive note but failed to gather momentum when opener Vikramjit Singh was dismissed early. Netherlands knew they were fighting a lost battle but decided to give their best shot. Max O’Dowd and Scott Edwards scored 55 and 72 respectively to help Netherlands register a decent total of 266/10. In the end, it was an easy 232-run victory for the visitors.

- England went on to register the highest ever runs scored by a team in the history of ODI cricket. 498 is now the current highest score in ODI.
- England broke their previous highest record of 481/6 which they registered against Australia in 2018.
- The top 3 highest runs score in ODI are all made by England. 498/4 vs Netherlands, 481 vs Australia. 444/3 vs Pakistan.
- Liam Livingstone came late to the party and went on to record a milestone. He scored the second-fastest fifty in ODI cricket and became the fastest English batter to score an ODI fifty. He reached 54 in just 17 deliveries. AB de Villiers holds the record for the fastest ODI fifty in just 16 balls.
- England skipper Jos Buttler today, went on to register the second-fastest century for England in ODIs.
- England also broke the World Record for the most number of sixes hit in a single inning of an ODI game. They hit 26 sixes against Netherlands. The previous best was 25 which England hit against Afghanistan.
- England became the second team ever in the history of ODI cricket where three batters score a century each. Jos Buttler, Philip Salt, and Dawid Malan scored tons for England. The only other team to have achieved this feat twice is South Africa.
