NBA trade: After working his way to a G League roster spot last season, LiAngelo Ball will have another chance at making the NBA. Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, LiAngelo Ball will sign a one-year, non-guaranteed deal with the Detroit Pistons. The deal will be an Exhibit 10 deal, Charania later clarified.

He gets a minimum, non-guaranteed contract that comes with a financial incentive if the player signs with the franchise’s G League team.

That bonus can be anywhere between $5,000 to $50,000 and is paid out to the player after he spends 60 days with the G League team.

Last season, Ball earned a spot on the OKC Blue G League team as a practice player before eventually working his way to a G League contract. Unfortunately, Ball’s first game with the OKC Blue coincided with the final day of the NBA and G League’s season before the season came to a halt.

How good is LiAngelo Ball?

The 19-year-old was in the NBL Australia and played for Illawarra, with his brother. He made 75 of 200 field goals attempted in 12 games.

The G League season, unlike the NBA, did not restart last year. The current plan for the 2020-21 G League season remains up in the air and may include a bubble-like format at some point during the year.

For this season, the Pistons will have the Grand Rapids Drive as the team’s G League affiliate. Presently, the Pistons do have an open two-way contract slot available should Ball impress in training camp.
