NBA Free Agency 2020: The NBA saw rosters revamped by the NBA draft, NBA trades, and NBA free-agent signings in just a little over a week. The champions LA Lakers will look to defend their title in the new NBA season that starts on the 22nd of December.
And while not every team operated with the constant transactional fierceness of the Oklahoma City Thunder, who waved deals with 10 organizations, it was still easy to come out of the experience feeling as confused as Trevor Ariza, who alternated between four teams in a matter of hours.
While the LA Lakers had only one draft pick, they traded some players in the NBA trade market. Most notably, the Sixth Man of the year – Montrezl Harrell, who joined from the LA Clippers.
3 important things to know about the LA Lakers offseason:
Notable Subtractions: Danny Green, Rajon Rondo, JaVale McGee, Avery Bradley, Dwight Howard
Notable Re-signings: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Markieff Morris
Harrell will keep opposing teams from dispatching shortages whenever LeBron James sits. Being the Sixth Man of the year, he will also add points coming off the bench. He is also an excellent rim-protector and a good defender.
Additional help from Wesley Matthews, Dennis Schroder, and Marc Gasol keeps the Lakers steadily over the league’s hierarchy. Those three will all present to the rotation, with Schroder adding second-unit scoring.
He and James will be really good on offense, and though he’s old, Gasol continues to be one of the strongest low-post defenders in the league.
