Why Navjot Singh Sidhu is getting arrested – The entire EPISODE EXPLAINED

Navjot Singh Sidhu has been arrested for a road rage case that dates way back to 1988.

Then in his mid-20s and playing for the Indian national team, Sidhu had an altercation with an elderly man on the road.

In a fit of rage, the former cricketer ended up striking the man on his head with his hand, which resulted in his death.

Following the hearing of a plea filed by the victim’s family, Sidhu was given a sentence of one-year rigorous imprisonment on Thursday.

In their justification, the Supreme Court stated “The hand can also be a weapon by itself where say a boxer, a wrestler or a cricketer or an extremely physically fit person inflicts the same.

This may be understood where a blow may be given either by a physically fit person or to a more aged person.

As far as the injury caused is concerned, this Court has accepted the plea of a single blow by hand being given on the head of the deceased. In our view, it is this significance which is an error apparent on the face of the record needing some remedial action,” the Supreme Court verdict further added.
