Naman Ojha, one of the stalwarts of India’s domestic cricket scene, saw his father arrested in relation to an eight-year case. VK Ojha was arrested from Betul district and will be brought before the court.
Reports suggest that Ojha has been a wanted man since 2014, ever since the FIR was first filed in.
A branch manager at the Bank of Maharashtra, Ojha was involved in the embezzlement of Rs 1.25 crore which came to light in 2013. The entire operation was carried out by opening multiple accounts and loans from Kishan Credit cards.
“The case was registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections: 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 471 (forged documentation) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy),” a police official told PTI.
Meanwhile, Naman Ojha retired from all forms of the game last year after a decorated career. The Madhya Pradesh legend featured in a one Test, one ODI and two T20Is for India, while scoring a truckload of runs in the domestic scene.
Ojha was also a regular in the IPL, playing for the likes of Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Delhi Daredevils.He was last seen in the Legends T20 League squad, as part of the Indian team.
