Though previously decided that some other Indian actor would don the role, however, it is now confirmed that Mittal would now go on to play a biopic of the iconic Sri Lankan spinner. Muralitharan Biopic: Two years ago, when talks of the movie started, South Indian actor Viraj Sethupathi was finalized to play the role, however, objections from many political leaders and filmmakers ultimately led to Sethupathi not getting the part.
“The film is now being prepared by Movie Train Motion Pictures. The star-casts have already been finalized and we intend to release the same early next year. The 70% shooting of the film has already been completed in Sri Lanka.
More shooting will be done in India, England and Australia. The biopic, named as “800” in a tribute to Murali’s 800 Test wickets, shows more of his character and also has famous controversy, when he was no-balled a number of times by umpires in a Boxing Day Test (1995-96) in Australia”. – a source attached with the film, exclusively revealed to Cricintra.com.

The great Sri Lankan spinner is now on a trip to India. It is revealed that the legendary spinner is traveling in South India paying visits to the numerous South Indian temples. Murali is married to Madhi Mallar who is an Indian. In his biopic, his wife’s role will be portrayed by South Indian actress Mahima Namibar. Murali is scheduled to return to Sri Lanka on the 19th of August.
Arguably one of the greatest spinners of all time, Muthiah Muralitharan has scalped a whopping 800 wickets in Test cricket. In the ODIs, Murali has wrapped up 534 wickets.
