Young players like Kumar Kartikeya Singh, Hrithik Shokeen, and Tilak Verma delivered on the big stage. Seasoned campaigner Suryakumar Yadav too delivered with the bat by scoring a crafty 51 and saw his team home with five wickets remaining.

The biggest positive though for MI must have been Tim David finishing things off in style. The Singapore-born player, who was dropped from the MI squad after the first few games, struck decisive blows in end to take his team home with four balls remaining. He remained unbeaten on 20 off just nine balls.

- David as the finisher allows Kieron Pollard to play with more freedom without worrying about the strike rate
