The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Wednesday has issued a notice to sports broadcasters, making it mandatory to run a ticker during the live broadcast of the “sports events of national importance” that the game can also be viewed on DD network channels.
The Ministry in the notice dated 25 April, 2018, has stated that “In view of the Gazette Notifications dated 22.10.2016, 27.01.2017 and 15.09.2017, all channels broadcasting live sports events of national importance are directed to display a ticker stating, ‘This match/ game can also be viewed on DD Sports channel on DD Free Dish DTH and DD’s terrestrial network on free-to-air basis’.
“Further, the channels shall carry only this ticker, in appropriate colour, font and size (making it prominently visible) repeated every 15 minutes. The ticker may be displayed from the point of start of live broadcast to the end of live broadcast related to the sports event on the DTH/Cable Platform.”
The broadcasters are advised to adhere to the instruction strictly. This order comes into force with immediate effect.
The Ministry of I&B, wide notices issued time to time, has made it mandatory for the sports rights holder broadcasters to share the following events with the Prasar Bharati-owned channels under the Sports Broadcasting Signals (Mandatory Sharing with Prasar Bharati) Act, 2007 (II of 2007).
i) All official One-Day and Twenty-20 matches played by the Indian Men’s Cricket Team and such Test matches as are considered to be of high public interest by the Central Government.
(ii) Semi-finals and finals of Men’s World Cup and International Cricket Council Championship Trophy.
(iii) Summer Olympics
(iv) Commonwealth Games
(v) Asian Games
(vi) Special Olympics
(viii) Events relating to the following sports.
a) Davis Cup-All matches featuring India;
b) Grand Slam Tournaments – Finals of Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles and all matches featuring Indian player from quarter-finals onwards; and
c) Grand Slam Tournaments – All such matches featuring Indian Player in men’s doubles, Women’s doubles or Mixed doubles from quarter-finals Oilwards.
a) World Cup – All matches featuring India and semi-finals and finals;
b) Champions Trophy- All matches featuring India, and semi-finals and finals; and
c) Indira Gandhi Gold Cup for Women – semi-finals and finals.

b) Asia Cup- All matches featuring India and semi-finals and finals
c) Santosh Trophy – Semi-finals and finals
