Antony Injury: Manchester United will be facing Premier League champions, Manchester City in the finals of the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium. However, the team will be without some of their main players, Brazilian forward Antony being one of them. Antony was expected to feature in the game, even after he left the game against Chelsea on a stretcher a few weeks ago. But now, it seems like he hasn’t recovered fully and will not be able to make it.
During the pre-game press conference, United’s manager Erik Ten Hag said, “Unlikely (he will be fit). Dos Santos (Antony) still has a chance but it’s a really small chance. He didn’t make the progress, so he still has a chance but unlikely he is available.”
After the Brazilian winger left the pitch on a stretcher during the Chelsea game, Ten Hag said that “first assessment is not too bad” and that he had a “good opportunity” to face City. However, now Antony’s chances are very slim to face City due to the progress.
Unfortunately for Manchester United, Antony is not the only one who will be missing the game. Lisandro Martinez, Marcel Sabitzer, and Donny van de Beek are the names who have missed games for United this season due to injuries and will remain on the sidelines. Striker Anthony Martial joined the list too after straining his hamstring in the game against Fulham.

When asked about these injuries, Ten Hag said, “These questions so many times about the absence of players in the last couple of months. Every time I say the same answer: it’s about the players who are available and many times we were successful. We have a good squad and from that good squad we make a good team.”
United definitely has multiple options to pick their squad from, however, in a big game like the FA Cup finals, they will be hoping to not make any mistakes in selecting players.
Manchester United vs Manchester City
Manchester City have been in fine form this season again, winning the Premier League, and are in contention to win the treble. United on the hand, have found themselves back on track under Erik Ten Hag finishing top 4 in the league and winning the Carabao Cup.
Both the teams faced each other twice in the league, wherein the first game City thrashed United by 6-3. However, United came back stronger and took revenge after defeating 2-1 at Old Trafford.
United will be hoping to stop City’s run toward the treble by winning the FA Cup final. United are the only English team to win a treble.
