Manchester United and Chelsea both have reportedly been in the race to sign Michael Edwards. Still, Red Devils are front runners in signing the ex-Liverpool chief.
Edwards had been with Liverpool for a decade since joining the side back in 2011 from Tottenham Hotspur. He was named Sporting Director 5 years after joining the Merseyside. His stint at Liverpool has been hugely successful. The likes of Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Virgil Van Dijk are some of his star signings.
He also made some significant financial gains with the departures of Philippe Coutinho and Dominic Solanke. Edwards had left Liverpool last season keeping Julian Ward on the hot seat. However, Liverpool fans would not be pleased seeing their transfer guru working for arch-nemesis Manchester United.

Manchester United’s current sporting director John Murtough has had a very productive transfer window recently. He brought in European heavyweights like Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez. The Manchester side is still to admit the speculations regarding a change in the position. They have also been linked with club legend Edwin Van der Sar for the role. However, Van der Sar has ended all speculations clarifying he has unfinished business with his current team Ajax. The Dutchman is currently Ajax’s CEO.
