Jaffna Kings faced 54 runs defeat at the hands of Galle Gladiators in the tournament opener. Opting to bowl, Kings got a good target of 165 to chase as the key bowlers – Thisara Perera, Wahab Riaz, and Suranga Lakmal were taken for cleaners. Coming to chase, the defending champions never looked comfortable as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals before eventually getting bowled out for 110 runs in the 19th over. The Kings will be eying to bounce back and open their account when they face off Dambulla Giants tomorrow.

Dambulla Giants, on the other hand, faced Kandy Warriors in their opening fixture. Opting to bat, Giants posted a massive total of 190 runs on the back of Philip Salt’s explosive knock of 64 off just 27 deliveries. With the ball, Ramesh Mendis was the star for Dambulla as he returned with an impressive figure of 3-21 in his four overs spell. At the time of writing, the Giants had complete control in the game as the Warriors needed 71 off 31 balls with 4 wickets in hand.
