LPL 2021: Galle Gladiators & Jaffna Kings Live

Jaffna Stallions – who won the inaugural title – were terminated and will be featured as Jaffna Kings under new owners. The Stallions secured 53 runs win over Gladiators in the final to become the inaugural champions.

The Gladiators will be eying to kick off the campaign with a win & take revenge for their inaugural final loss. Led by Bhanuka Rajapaksha, Gladiators have many big names in their rank in the likes of Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, Mohd Hafeez, Ben Dunk.

However, they will miss the services of Proteas star spinner Tabraiz Shamsi & Pakistan’s former captain Sarfraz Ahmed. While Sarfraz is busy with national duties Shamsi couldn’t make it to the tournament due to the suspension of flights because of the new Covid-19 variant Omicron.

On the opposite, Jaffna Kings will play under the leadership of Sri Lanka’s star all-rounder Thisara Perera. With Avishka Fernando, Upul Tharanga, Suranga Lakmal, and others in their ranks, the Kings are a side to beat in the tournament. They will also miss their two key players – Faf du Plessis and Wanindu Hasaranga. While Hasaranga is busy with Abu Dhabi T10 Faf du Plessis had to pull out owing to bio-bubbles and the emergence of the Omicron variant.
