LPL 2020 : When will Lankan Premier League now be played ?
According to the local Covid-19 protocols anyone traveling into Sri Lanka from foreign shores will have to mandatory go into 14 days quarantine before they are allowed to move freely.
It is impossible for foreign cricketers who have signed up to play LPL this season to comply with such guidelines. According to the SLC sources, to expect players of the caliber of Chris Gayle (Currently with IPL), Shahid Afridi, Shakib Al Hassan to come and spend two weeks in quarantine is too much to ask which they will never agree.
“We are not left with any option but to postponed the LPL probably to January. Foreign players will never spend two weeks in quarantine, its getting too tight”, said SLC source to InsideSport.
Not only this, SLC source told InsideSport that even Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka is also in danger of getting postponed because of the same reason.
Abu Dhabi T10 League also set to be postponed ?
Meanwhile, the T10 League which was originally scheduled to be played in Abu Dhabi from November 18 to 28 is also set to be postponed.
The shift in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to the UAE has forced the organizers of the T10 League to make some changes, which is why it is likely to be postponed till January 2021. The IPL is scheduled to end on November 10, just eight days before the T10 League was originally scheduled to begin.
The Covid-19 cases in UAE are increasing and the organizers are not ready to take risk during these times and will postpone the league to sometime in January 2021.
