All the icons spoke about how Karim Benzema had been exceptional this season but it was Luka Modric who has been the main man at the heart of the midfield. The 36-year-old has been terrific this season but the Los Blancos will have to look for a new replacement.

“They have replacements at home – Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga. Fede who played with me in the Real Madrid junior team is very talented and I think he should really prove his talent much more than he has done so far. Camavinga is very talented as well. Of course, it’s very difficult to replace Modric but if you give them time (playing time), I think that both Fede and Camavinga are going to grow and perform very well for Real Madrid,” said Guti.

“Yes, Guti is absolutely right. As you said that Modric is ageing like fine wine. Let’s hope that Modric will continue to perform at this level for 1 or 2 more years. We all know about his quality, his talent, his physical condition, how he plays with or without the ball. I think he has played an excellent season. Camavinga is very young and talented. And I think both him and Valverde are good replacements for Modric,” Fernando Hierro.
Barcelona on the other hand had a relatively poor season. The Blaugrana side came second in the league and missed out on their chance of winning the Europa League title after getting eliminated from the Champions League in the group stages. Speaking about the requirement of a new striker in the lineup, Luis Garcia said, “I have heard of the Lewandowski rumours. He scores 35 goals every season and that is a huge achievement. If he can do the same at Barcelona then it will be great for the club.”
