The PSG forward accepted the proposal of coach Didier Deschamps in the past couple of days. The 24-year-old will succeed Hugo Lloris as the skipper of the French side after the GK decided to hang up his boots in the international arena.
Lloris, 36, had been a skipper for more than a decade. After Raphael Varane decided to hang up his boots, Antoine Griezmann was named the vice-captain of the Les Blues.

Mbappe had been heavily linked with being the skipper of the team for a while now. He has played 66 games for the Les Blues and has been a star performer for them.
The former Monaco attacker is vice-captain at PSG behind Brazil’s Marquinhos and led the side in the defender’s absence during Sunday’s loss to Rennes. Mbappe’s first game as captain will be against Netherlands in their Euro 2024 qualifier.
