KL Rahul Athiya Shetty: KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty made their first public appearance on Monday after being married on January 23 at Suniel Shetty’s house in Khandala. They took part in a traditional Indian wedding, replete with dancing and the mehendi and haldi rituals. The recentlyweds were seen out for dinner in the city. The couple was seen in their cosiest poses. Athiya wore flowy, dark blue-printed top with flared jeans. KL Rahul, on the other hand, was sporting a t-shirt and jeans. IND vs AUS Test Series: Rahul is currently working on the side after taking time off for his wedding. KL will meet the rest of the team in Mumbai before departing for Nagpur. India will undertake a training camp there in preparation for the upcoming four-match series. The camp is offering some red ball practice as India haven’t played a home Test match in ten months.
In the meanwhile, Rahul has a lot to prove. Despite having an extended leash in ODIs due to Rishabh Pant’s injury, his performance in tests has been far from adequate. In Bangladesh, where he also came in for the injured Rohit Sharma, the 30-year-old had a series to forget. Rahul will need to perform at his highest level since Shubman Gill is awaiting him in the background.
The four-match Test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is also part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23. Jasprit Bumrah missing the series is a big blow for India as India must win the series 2-0 or 3-1 to qualify for the WTC Final in June. The first Test of the series begins on February 9 in Nagpur. The last two Tests are scheduled to be held across the first two weeks of March.
