He recently connected with ESPN MMA and talked about several things. When asked about his potential return, Khamzat Chimaev clarified that he will face Colby Covington and is optimistic about winning the fight.
Gilbert Burns has been the toughest opponent for Khamzat Chimaev in the UFC. ‘Borz’ discussed why Colby Covington wouldn’t be as threatful as Burns. Chimaev said,
“I think it will be much easier Gilbert is like you know, hard fight with Gilbert [Burns] because he is like good in the ground as well. He is not bad in wrestling as well but I could wrestle with him. I took him down easy”
Chimaev added, ”Colby is not the same type of guy. Colby, I can take him down, I can knock him out. Usman dropped him, Masvidal dropped him. So why not me?”

Khamzat Chimaev is currently the third-ranked welterweight fighter in the UFC. Upon beating Colby Covington, he would become a valid title contender. However, Kamaru Usman is expected to get his shot against champion Leon Edwards first.
