When did Kamaru Usman’s father get arrested and how long did he spend in prison?
According to an ESPN report in 2022, authorities arrested Usman’s father in 2009. As per reports, Usman’s father faced charges of multiple healthcare frauds through his ambulance company. 11 months after his initial arrest, a jury convicted him of 14 federal charges. This led to a 180-month prison sentence and a restitution of $1.3 million.
However, in 2021, authorities released Usman after he served 10 years of his 15-year sentence. And while the Usman family always maintained that he was innocent, they are now just happy to have him back with them.
Kamaru Usman once set the record straight by claiming his father had nothing to do with the frauds, and that it was those who worked for him. However, the authorities sentenced him for mere ‘ignorance.’
Speaking on an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Usman said, “Now because my dad was the owner of the company, they put it all on him, even though the people that were doing the things that were wrong in the company admitted to doing the wrong things.”
Therefore, these comments show that Kamaru Usman’s father spent time in prison for something he did not do.
