Junior Hockey World Cup 2021: The men’s hockey Junior Hockey World Cup is all set to take place from November 24. India will defend the crown it won in 2016. The tournament will take place from November 24 to December 5 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.

It will feature 16 teams which are India, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, South Africa, Egypt, Belgium, England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, USA, Canada, Chile and Argentina.

While Odisha is also gearing up to host the 2023 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik accepted the proposal to host the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Bhubaneswar 2021 starting in November.

Addressing the event, Patnaik said,“It’s a short notice for arrangements for such an event, especially during the pandemic period. Since, the country’s prestige is at stake, we have readily agreed to support. I am happy to announced that Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar will be hosting the FIH Junior Men’s Hockey World Cup.”

Naveen took the opportunity to unveil the logo and trophy of FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Bhubaneswar 2021 in presence of FIH President Narinder Batra.

“There is a lot of excitement about the prospects of Indian Hockey in coming years. The Hockey World Cup in January 2023 will be a landmark event and provide further momentum for Hockey development in the country. Odisha will continue to be a part of the journey of Indian hockey. We have already announced that we would support the Indian National Team for another 10 years,” Naveen added.

“The FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Bhubaneswar 2021 is the pinnacle of tournaments for U-21 and is a very important fixture in the FIH calendar. We are delighted that Odisha with their world-class infrastructure are set to host an event of this magnitude. As always, we have been extended full support by the Odisha State Government and the event will be held following all required Covid-19 protocols.” expressed Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra.
