ISL 2020-21 Two time ISL winner Chennaiyin FC beat Jamshedpur 2-1- A good win for last season’s finalists as they kick start their campaign by bagging all three points. After dominating the first half and ending it on 2-1. CFC were strong in the second half and created more chances than their counterpart.

Jamshedpur FC themselves created a few good opportunities to equalize in the second half. But both sides’ shooting boots were found to be missing in the second 45. The designated home side were made to pay for it as the Super Machans have got off to an ideal start.

Anirudh Thapa gets the ‘Hero of the Match’ award as he becomes the first Indian player to score a goal in the 2020-21 season of ISL.

This should have been on target! JFC really need to get their shooting boots on. A wonderful ball is whipped in from the left channel from a free kick, Stephen Eze gets into a good position and heads this towards goal as the keeper runs out looking to punch this but misses. Eze heads this wide of the goal. What a big chance in this game!

60′- Chennaiyin FC continues to lead 2-1 at the hour mark. Jamshedpur, which struggled for rhythm in large parts of the first half, looks a lot more settled after the break

57′-Rafael Crivellaro takes a free-kick and Eli Sabia pokes the ball into the net. But, a foul is awarded by the referee as Deepak Tangri flies an elbow to take down Jamshedpur FC goalkeeper Rehenesh.

51′- A floating cross by Jamshedpur FC winger Jackichand Singh but it is straight into the clutches of Vishal Kaith.

A very strong start from CFC as they got off to an absolute flier with Anirudh Thapa breaking the deadlock in the very first minute. Last season’s finalists then doubled their lead after Lallianzuala Chhangte was pushed inside the box by Issac Vanmalsawma Chhakchhuak. Esmael Goncalves kept his calm and doubled the advantage.

Post the half four mark, Jamshedpur turned the tide and start to impose themselves more on the game. They were rewarded when Nerijus Valskis headed home from a brilliant cross by Telem Jackichand Singh. An exciting second half awaits us!

Nerijus Valskis heads the ball home with an angled header from a cross by Jackichand Singh. It’s a goal made by two of Jamshedpur’s new signings as Jackichand Singh delivers a peach of a cross for Valskis to nod in.

Issac finds himself in an unfamiliar position marking Chhangte inside the box and he pulls him down.

22′– Two corners in as many minutes for Chennaiyin, but the Jamshedpur defence clears the danger with ease.

Rehenesh makes a good save. Rafael Schuler Crivellaro slips in a wonderful pass to the running Lallianzuala Chhangte in the right channel, Chhangte’s first touch is not the best but he still manages to drill a low shot to the right of the keeper, who does well to make himself big and send this outside for a corner.

17′- Jamshedpur’s Laldinliana takes a shot but it clatters on the path of Sipovic and the rebounded shot from him is comfortably collected by Kaith.

14′- CFC get a corner after the ball goes out of play. Rafael Schuler Crivellaro whips in a ball but it is well dealt with by the defense of JFC. They are still under pressure though as the attackers of CFC are not backing down.

10′- Huge miss for CFC!

It should have been 2-0 for Chennaiyin FC. Esma keeps on running and finds himself one-on-one with the Jamshedpur FC goalkeeper. But, his final shot is astray. Esma would be gutted to miss this one.

7′- Another chance goes begging for Jamshedpur

What a good chance this was for JFC! A good header too, but it should have been on target. A ball is whipped into the box from a free-kick, Peter William Hartley makes a good run and heads this one towards the far post but it is way too far and not on target and goes out for a goal kick.

Rafael Schuler Crivellaro gets the ball and slips a pass to the right flank where Goncalves was making a run. He runs forward and drills a low ball to the middle of the box where Anirudh Thapa makes a bursting run and hammers this into the goal.

Surprising move from Chennaiyin

It is surprising that Chennaiyin FC has left out Edwin Vanspaul in the bench and favoured the young Deepak Tangri to partner Anirudh Thapa in the centre of the park. The former India U-19 international has big boots to fill.
