Uthappa’s comments come after Insidesport understands that Chennai would bag him as a replacement for Dwayne Bravo.
‘With Bravo not around anymore, Curran should be the team overseas, quick feels team management, especially Dhoni. He can bowl at the death and also chip in with the bat lower down the order’, said a source close to CSK team management.

Robin Uthappa who retired from all forms of Indian cricket will don a new avatar as an expert on JioCinema. Speaking about CSK’s targets, the former Indian batter backed them to go all out on Sam Curran. The 24-year-old’s death bowling exploits have not gone unnoticed and he could be a perfect replacement for Dwayne Bravo.
Uthappa said, “CSK need an all-rounder to replace Dwayne Bravo. In that, I think they will look for the likes of Sam Curran because he has already played for CSK in the past, he’s done well for them and has contributed to their success so they will definitely try and go for him.”

Uthappa also made a case for his former teammate Karnataka teammate Manish Pandey. The four-time champions need to enforce their middle order with Indian batsmen, and few options are as experienced as Pandey. The former LSG star is also a captaincy alternative having led the state side.
Uthappa said, “The second one would be an Indian batter in the middle order. The ones that are available in this auction seem to be like Manish Pandey. He has done exceptionally well in the IPL and is also someone who is experienced and would really enjoy playing in the CSK culture. These are the two players they will go for but in case they don’t get them – I am certain there are other options that they already have.”
