He shared his experience of meeting the legendary Indian batter and said that instead of interviewing Sachin, he “ended up just listening to him”. “Bottled up excitement as I wait to meet with @sachintendulkar. He’s always been someone I look up to. The way he carried himself on and off the field during his playing days was nothing short of incredible! Since his retirement, nothing has changed and he still inspires millions around the world, including me,” sharing a picture on Twitter before his encounter with Tendulkar, AB De Villiers wrote.

The veteran batter has come to India after more than a year. He didn’t play in IPL 2022 after announcing his retirement from cricket. De Villiers met with the RCB owners and is expected to be involved in some capacity with the Red Army. He is widely tipped to be Virat Kohli & Co’s mentor. He also shares great rapport with RCB skipper Faf du Plessis. The two former Proteas captains were best friends.
De Villiers said that he was supposed to take Tendulkar’s interview but ended up just listening to him. “So I ended up spending a few hours with this man today. Thought I was sort of gonna interview him, but ended up just listening and taking it all in. What an experience. Thanks for your time “Master Blaster”@sachintendulkar,” he wrote in another post.
“A pleasure to be interviewed by De Villiers. And chat with him about so many memorable on-field moments and, not to forget, my bowling as well. The wait in the other room was worth it!” Tendulkar responded later.

De Villiers decided not to participate in the toughest franchise-based league right after the 2021 edition. However, earlier this year, the former RCB member hinted at his return to the IPL, stating that he missed the action while sitting at home. Since joining in 2011, de Villiers has been one of the pillars of the Red Army. He has scored 4491 runs, including 37 fifties and two centuries, at an average of 39.70 in 156 matches. He propelled Bangalore to five IPL playoffs but failed to win the elusive trophy.
