Speaking to the official broadcaster recently, Brian Lara, who is the batting coach of SRH said, “I have great respect for Rashid Khan but he is someone who opposition teams decided to defend against. He is not much of a wicket-taker.”
But against Sunrisers Hyderabad he was not at his best as he was taken to cleaners by the batsmen. He was introduced to the attack to bowl the seventh over of the innings. Though he conceded only six runsn in his first over, Abhishek Sharma slammed a massive six over long-on in the next over to start the battle between the two.
Rashid returned for his second spell in the 12th over and the 20-year old opener continued his assault on the Afghan as he started the over with a six. It followed with three singles. and in the last ball of the over, Abhishek once again hit Rashid over deep-midwicket to get to his fifty off 33 balls. Abhishek and Markram then scored two boundaries in his next over as Rashid finished with figures of 4-0-45-0.
Rashid Khan, is hailed as one of the best spinners in the world, especially in the shortest format of the game. However in this season of IPL, he has struggled to pick up wickets at will. In eight games, he has taken eight wickets but however managed to contain runs as he has an economy rate of 7.09, which is the best for any Gujarat Titans bowler in this edition.
