IPL 2022: Tom Moody completely floored by Dale Steyn’s appointment as SRH bowling coach- Sunrisers Hyderabad head Tom Moody is delighted with the arrival of South African legend Dale Steyn as part of the backroom staff as SRH hit the ground running with a coaching overhaul for IPL 2022. Steyn has previously been part of the SRH set-up as a player and was one of their highest-paid players in their early years in the IPL. The leading wicket-ticker for South Africa in Tests, Steyn retired from all formats of the game earlier this year and SRH will be his first forays into coaching.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have made some wholesale changes to their coaching set-up, with a host of superstar names joining their personnel. Dale Steyn will be joining the set up as the fast bowling coach, making his first forays into coaching after calling time on his playing career. Head coach Tom Moody was delighted to welcome Steyn on board and lavished praise on the South African legend. The appointment of Steyn should be a welcome boost to Umran Malik, who was retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 auctions.

Along with Dale Steyn, Muttiah Muralitharan will be part of the backroom staff as the spin bowling coach. Simon Katich, who has previously worked with KKR and RCB, will be Moody’s assistant while Brian Lara joins the team as the batting coach. Former Indian player Hemang Badani will be roped in as the field coach and will also dovetail as a scout.
