By doing so he is now the Indian player with the most catches in a single season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Moment of history for Riyan – On the fourth ball of the ninth over, Riyan created history by clutching N Jagadeesan on 1 run off 4 deliveries. N Jagadeesan’s dismissal paved way for Riyan to go past Jadeja in the list that previously held that record with 13 catches in a season. With still playoffs on offer, Riyan could well add to his tally while adding another feather in the cap.
Later in the innings Riyan also clutched his 15th catch of the IPL 2022 when he caught the impressive Moeen Ali on 93 runs. the Englishmen missed out on a hundred courtesy of Riyan’s 15th catch of IPl 2022.
Tops the elite list – The record was previously held by Ravindra Jadeja who not once but twice clutched 13 catches in a single IPL season. Jadeja swapped with 13 catches in the 2021 title-winning season and before in 2015 season, where CSK lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) in the final. The list also contains Rohit Sharma who also had 13 catches in the 2012 season.

Riyan and RR make quickfire return in the match– While Moeen Ali was running the show with an incredible rate of 66 runs in 25 deliveries, RR did found a way back in the contest. While N Jagadeesan’s (1) wicket was the backbone breaker, the likes of Ambati Raydu (3) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (2) also failed to make a mark as they were dismissed early at the start of their innings. This paved way for RR to make a mini comeback after Ali had taken the game to the storm.
