Captaining the Melbourne Stars, Maxwell put on a Big Show and registered the highest individual score in the history of the Big Bash League (BBL). Playing in his 100th BBL game, Glenn Maxwell hit the Hobart Hurricanes attack to all parts of the ground as he helped Melbourne Stars to a record-breaking score. Opening the batting for the Stars, Maxwell put on a 97-run stand with Joe Clarke in just 7 overs after which he was involved in a 132-run unbeaten stand in just 9 overs with Marcus Stoinis. The RCB star got to his hundred in just 41 balls, becoming the second-fastest man to hit a hundred in the history of the Big Bash League.

Speaking after the innings, Glenn Maxwell said, “A lot of things have to go right for something like that to happen, I had great support the whole way through … it’s still a nice feeling to finish this tournament with a really nice innings.”
Maxwell had enjoyed a fine season with RCB in IPL 2021, scoring 500 runs and finishing as the team’s leading run-scorer despite the presence of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. With the latter retiring, RCB decided to retain the services of the Big Show and will hope that he can continue his brilliance when the tournament kicks off later this year.
