As for the match, Rajasthan Royals cruised to a 24-run victory to all but confirm their place in the IPL 2022 playoffs.
It was an all-round effort from the Royals. Opting to bat first, Rajasthan Royals set a competitive 179-run target in 20 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal hammered 29-ball 41 while Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal scored 32 and 39 respectively. In the end, Trent Boult hammered a 9-ball 17 to ensure RR post 178/6.
With the ball, Rajasthan Royals were even better. Trent Boult delivered a terrific spell of 2/18 in his four overs while Prasidh Krishna was equally up to the task with 2/32. Obed McCoy also bowled a great spell, taking two crucial wickets for 35 runs. R Ashwin was equally impressive with 1/24 in his four as RR restricted LSG to 154/8.
However, Yuzvendra Chahal was not happy with his own performance despite Rajasthan winning the match. Chahal conceded 42 runs in his four overs for a solitary wicket.
“For us to finish in the top-two, we had to win this match. I was a little bit disappointed with myself but I’ll definitely come back in the next game. When Hooda was batting so well, leg-side was shorter, I didn’t want to take any risk. I tried to bowl a couple of flighted balls, he tried to hit sixes, so I didn’t want to give any extra runs. That’s why I tried to bowl a little bit quicker tonight,” Yuzvendra Chahal said after the match.

However, he is happy to get the Purple Cap back. But he said he is happy even if Hasaranga or Kuldeep gets the Purple Cap instead of him.
“When you contribute to the team, you’re always happy with that. Everyone is doing well, it’s not like not only two people are performing. In every match you can see 2-3 match-winners. Whatever he’s (Hasaranga) doing, I am happy for him because he’s like a brother to me. If he takes wickets, if Kuldeep takes wickets, I am happy with that,” Chahal said.
