Yuzvendra Chahal had an IPL season that he will remember for quite a long time. From not being retained by RCB to getting picked by RR in the IPL 2022 auctions, Chahal kept his haters at bay by producing match-winning performances. Chahal ended up being the only bowler of the tournament to pick a hattrick with a fifer.
Heading into the all-important IPL 2022 Final against Gujarat Titans, Chahal was on level terms with Hasranga on 26 wickets. But the star spinner managed to get a wicket of GT skipper Hardik Pandya and thereby went past the RCB spinner to bag the Purple cap.

With the wicket, Chahal also became the first-ever spinner to take 27 wickets in a single season in the history of IPL. He broke Imran Tahir’s record of 26 wickets, which was achieved by the South African in the 2019 edition of the IPL.

Chahal scalped a total of 27 wickets, at an average of 19.51 and an economy of 7.75 in 17 matches of IPL 2022. He was followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore spinner Wanindu Hasaranga with 26 wickets.
Coming to the summit clash, Hardik Pandya’s all-round performance of 34 runs with the bat and a three-wicket haul with ball powered debutants Gujarat Titans to a seven-wicket win over inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals here at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday.
Apart from Hardik, it was Shubman Gill who smashed 45 runs and helped his side chase down the modest target of 131 in 18.1 overs.
