Mark Wood had pulled out of IPL auction in 2021 after spending a year with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2018. This time, Wood said that the decision to reconsider the move is due to bio-bubble fatigue.

“It’s just whether the time away from home, the bubbles…I’ve done Australia without my son which has been quite hard. Especially around Christmas. So I’ll have to see how the family situation is,” he stated about his final call.

With 10 teams and a bigger auction, BCCI expects no less than 1000 names. But the Indian board will narrow down the list of players and release around 250 of them for the auction pool. The final list will be out after the two new franchises Ahmedabad and Lucknow announce their three picks by January 22.

“We approached our partner boards a month back to send the list of players. We expect them to send the list of players by January 17. This time, we expect over 1000 players but only 250 of them will be in the auction. The names will be released by the end of January. We have seen an increase in the interest with the growing brand value of IPL,” a board official told InsideSport.
