CSK IPL Squad Issue – Chennai Super Kings: Deepak Chahar Injury & Moeen Ali’s VISA issue
The one big headache for CSK is Deepak Chahar will miss the majority of IPL due to a quadriceps tear. The all-rounder is only expected to join the team at the latter stages of IPL.

CSK were dealt with a massive body blow when they found out about Chahar’s unavailability for the majority of the IPL 2022 season. The all-rounder was skipper MS Dhoni’s power-play enforcer. Now, the team has to rely on someone else to provide breakthroughs.
CSK also have another headache as all-rounder Moeen Ali is facing some issues over his visa. He is also likely going to miss the first game against KKR on March 26.
Mumbai Indians – No Jofra Archer, will it impact?
MI knew that England pacer Jofra Archer won’t be available in this year’s IPL due to recurring elbow issues.
They still took the punt and brought him in the mega auctions. There was a glimmer of hope that the pacer will play IPL, but Archer just pulled out last minute.
Without the gun pacer, MI’s death bowling looks a bit thin. MI have backup options in Tymal Mills and Riley Meredith. They have to select one among those pacers.
3: Delhi Capitals – Anrich Nortje’s fitness?
Is Nortje Fit? DC would be keeping their fingers crossed and hoping Anrich Nortje is cleared to bowl in the upcoming IPL season.
The pacer suffered a hip injury and was out of action for five months. The 29-year-old though has landed in Mumbai. Now, DC’s medical team will have to assess his fitness and then give clearance on his participation.
DC already doesn’t have Kagiso Rabada and Avesh Khan. They have options in Shardul Thakur, Khaleel Ahmed, and Chetan Sakariya if Nortje is unavailable.

4: Royal Challengers Bangalore – Lack of quality number 3 batter
RCB faces a similar headache as of the previous IPL season. They do not have a solid number three batter. Last year they used Srikar Bharat and Rajat Patidar, but the duo could not deliver consistently. In IPL 2022 they have brought Anuj Rawat and Mahipal Lomror. The duo does not have experience and it remains to be seen who RCB chose to play at number three.
5: Sunrisers Hyderabad – Kane Williamson’s fitness
SRH skipper Kane Williamson was out of cricketing action for 5 months due to elbow issues. He has not played competitive cricket since last featuring in a T20I series against India. The right-hand batter has arrived in Mumbai ahead of IPL 2022. It remains to be seen if Williamson will be available from the 1st game.

6: Lucknow Super Giants – Mark Wood’s REPLACEMENT?
LSG received a massive setback when Mark Wood pulled out of IPL due to elbow issues. He was all set to lead the attack along with Jason Holder. Now, LSG will have to find some other options to fill the gap left by Wood. They have an able backup option in Dushmanth Chameera.
7: Gujarat Titans – Hardik Pandya’s bowling?
The biggest headache for GT is skipper Hardik Pandya’s availability as a bowler. For over two overs, Pandya has played purely as a batter due to back issues. He has only bowled limited overs in the T20 format. It remains to be seen if the all-rounder bowls in IPL 2022.
8: Kolkata Knight Riders – Finalizing 1st choice wicketkeeper
KKR have a big worry as they need to finalize their 1st choice wicketkeeper batter. They have Sam Billings and Sheldon Jackson as options. Billings is a powerful striker, while Jackson is a dependable player lower down the order. Shreyas Iyer only has five days to sort this issue ahead of their match against CSK.
9: Rajasthan Royals – Selecting fourth overseas player
RR have the issue of sorting out their 4th overseas player. They have Jimmy Neesham, Daryl Mitchell, and Nathan Coulter Nile. The first three spots will be filled by Jos Buttler, Obed McCoy, and Shimron Hetmyer. The 4th one is their issue as they have plenty of options to choose from. Samson needs to figure out which player will be useful.
- Punjab Kings – Too many openers at the top
PBKS have arguably the best top-six batters in IPL 2022. But they are spoilt for choices too. Skipper Mayank Agarwal has two options Jonny Bairstow and Shikhar Dhawan. He now has to decide who among those will partner him at the top. Both Bairstow and Dhawan are proven match-winners and have a great record as openers in IPL.
