IPL 2022: Kagiso Rabada takes fifer – Just ahead of the IPL, that is less than a week away, South African speedster Kagiso Rabada took a brillaint five wicket haul that restricted Bangladesh 194/9 in the second ODI at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday. After Bangladesh scripted history by winning the first ODI on Friday, the second ODI became a must-win encounter for South Africa. Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal won the toss and opted to bat first. Kagiso Rabada was fiery in his first spell and dismissed Shakib Al Hasan in his second over for a duck. He then dismissed opener Litton Das with a short-pitched delivery that left South Africa reeling at 23/3 after 7 overs.

Rabada continued to make the Bangladesh batsmen struggle with his barrage of short-pitched deliveries. He soon took the wicket of Yasir Ali who nicked one to Keshav Maharaj at backward point.
After his spell, Bangladesh however recovered from 34/5 to 180/6. It was Rabada who was once again the go-to man for Protea skipper Temba Bavuma. He soon got his fourth and fifth wicket in a span of two deliveries. He dismissed both Afif Hossein, who scored a vital 72 and Mehidy Hasan Niraz (32), to break the 86-run stand for the seventh wicket. This was Rabada’s second five-wicket haul and both the fifers came against the same opponent.

His fiery spells right at the start and at the death helped the Proteas gain a much-needed advantage in the second ODI. After the ODI series, that ends on 23rd March, Rabada will take no further part in the Test series and will arrive in India to play the IPL. He was picked by the Punjab Kings for 9.25 crores this year and will spearhead the team’s bowling attack.
