IPL 2022: KL Rahul is all set to don new colours and begin his stint as the captain of IPL’ s new franchise Lucknow Super Giants in the upcoming edition of the league that kickstarts in Mumbai on 26th March. The batsman, who is making a return to competitive cricket after being sidelined with a hamstring injury,  posted pictures of him practising in the nets, across his social media handles on Sunday. In the pictures, the 29-year old batsman was seen in the team’s new light blue kit and he wrote, “New colours, same commitment.” Rahul, who has been performing well with the bat over the last few seasons will look to continue his good run for his new team.

  • He was picked up by the Lucknow-based franchise for a whopping 17 crore just ahead of the auction, making him the player with the highest salary this season.
  • Rahul led Punjab Kings during the last two years and even though he was the team’s best batter scoring over 500 runs each season, he couldn’t take his team into the playoffs. He will look to change his fate as captain for the new franchise.
  • Rahul, who was the highest run scorer in the Test series against South Africa early this year suffered hamstring injury during the ODI series against West Indies and missed the T20I series and the entire series against Sri Lanka.
  • His return from injury would bolster the Lucknow Super Giants.
  • This year at the LSG, he will open alongside South African wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock, who was picked up by the franchise for 6.75 crores.
