Warne revealed the incident clearly in his biography ‘No Spin’ where he had a huge difference over the selection of a certain player with the team owner Manoj Badale. Warne threatened to walk out of the squad if he didn’t have full command of the team.
Warne says that he and the owner had a long conversation about a particular who remained unnamed by Warne. The Australian great refused to budge under the pressure of the owner after Badale repeatedly wanted to include the unnamed player in the squad of 16. Warne found that the unnamed player was not up to the standard and thus could not make it to the team.

“If I put Asif in that group, they’ll know he’s not good enough and that he’s there because of some hidden favouritism. At that point, I’ll lose them. So if you want Asif in the squad, that’s fine, but I’ll give you your money back – I don’t want to be part of it.’ ‘Are you serious?’ asked Manoj (Badale). ‘I’m deadly serious,’ I said. ‘Let me sleep on it.’.”
With Warne not willing to budge to the slightest extent, the owner requested that the player remains in the team dugout. But a stern Warne negated the statement. “‘No, the area is too small for all of us as it is, and, anyway, I don’t want him just sitting there, because again it looks like we’re doing him a favour. So no.’ ‘Okay,’ said Manoj.”
